Lincoln Park was once Chicago's municipal cemetery. The Grant statue has stood there for over a century — surviving a lightning strike in 1892 and a monuments review committee in 2020. Removing a bronze doesn't remove history; sometimes it only moves the problem out of sight. One person can be both an instrument of justice and an agent of injustice.
